The series takes an ordinary day and spends every hour of it on the command line. Each guide picks something you'd normally open an app for, like email, the weather, a spreadsheet or music, and shows you how to do it from the terminal instead.

How the series works

The day starts with email at 6am and ends with the Matrix at 5am. You can follow it in order or jump to the hour you need.

Every guide says which app it replaces, how long setup takes and how hard it is, rated out of five.

Written on a Mac

The guides use macOS and Homebrew, but the commands work on most Unix-based systems, including Linux and WSL. See the full setup.
